Seeing planets through a small scope

Even with a modest seventy-millimeter refractor, you can resolve the rings of Saturn and the four largest moons of Jupiter. Jupiter appears as a small, cream-colored disc flanked by tiny pinpricks of light, while Saturn looks like a bright bead suspended inside a sharp, miniature oval. Use a ten-millimeter lens on clear, still nights to get a clean, steady view of these worlds.
